Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport passengers or goods, ensuring compliance with traffic laws and safety regulations. Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles such as buses, school buses, or paratransit vans, following all traffic laws and vehicle codes.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical readiness before each journey.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to traffic changes, road conditions, and emergency situations using defensive driving techniques.
- Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, providing support for children, seniors, or individuals with disabilities as needed.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance reports in accordance with company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, passengers, and team members using clear language and professional demeanor.
- Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid when necessary.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger or school bus driving.
- Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or paratransit services.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and emergency stop procedures.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform mechanical checks on vehicles.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Familiarity with school policies, behavior management techniques, and working with children or seniors is preferred.
- Certifications in first aid (CPR included), defensive driving, and emergency response procedures are highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems and quick response skills for traffic changes are advantageous.
