American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Psychiatric Unit night shift position in Saint Louis, MO, requiring at least 1 year of behavioral health experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Inpatient Psychiatric Unit in a hospital setting
-
Adult and geriatric behavioral health patients, including those with medical comorbidities
-
10-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 8:1

Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12 (36 hours/week)
-
Every third weekend required (facility will work with candidate on scheduling)

On-call and float requirements as directed by the facility; floating within Behavioral Health
-
Equipment includes sit-to-stand lifts, Hoyer lifts, restraints, IV, and Foley catheters
-
EMR: Epic

13-week contract
-
Active RN license in Missouri or currently eligible for MO licensure (MO or compact license accepted)
-
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only — no expiring certifications within the first 30 days of the assignment unless renewal documentation is provided

Minimum 1 year of recent behavioral health/psychiatric nursing experience

Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs are not accepted)

Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift, with frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning of patients with assistance

Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs and pinch up to 15 lbs; occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling required

Responsible for direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for behavioral health patients

Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary and interdisciplinary departments

Upholds patient rights and maintains confidentiality of patient health information

Black scrubs required

Flu vaccination (or a Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers between November 1 and April 1; declinations are not accepted

Up to 5 days of RTO is permitted but must be made up during the assignment
-
Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will be subject to a reduced bill rate
-
No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months

The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
