This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, compassionate, patient, and enjoys coaching others in a workplace setting.
Position Summary
The Group Employment Site DSP provides direct support and supervision to individuals receiving vocational services in community-based group employment settings. This position assists individuals in learning and performing job tasks, promotes independence and self-advocacy, ensures health and safety, and implements Individual Service Plans (ISPs) in accordance with Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD), Medicaid, and agency requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals at community employment sites.
- Coach individuals in learning and completing assigned job duties while encouraging independence.
- Promote dignity, respect, and person-centered supports at all times.
- Implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and support individuals in achieving employment goals.
- Monitor work quality and productivity while providing encouragement and constructive feedback.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals receiving services.
- Assist individuals with personal care needs when required by the ISP.
- Safely transport individuals to and from employment sites, community activities, or agency locations as assigned.
- Accurately complete daily documentation, progress notes, attendance records, incident reports, mileage logs, and other required records.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, employers, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Report incidents, concerns, or changes in an individual's condition promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Participate in required staff meetings and mandatory training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently while supervising multiple individuals.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude and commitment to person-centered services.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and assisting individuals as needed.
Required Certifications and Requirements
- Valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Proof of automobile insurance
- Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
- CPR/First Aid certification (Company will pay for employee to obtain during training)
- Successful completion of all DODD-required training and agency orientation.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and assisting individuals throughout the workday. Employees must be able to safely assist individuals with mobility and perform duties in various community employment settings.
