Position Summary
The Independent Radon Mitigation Contractor is responsible for installing residential and light commercial radon mitigation systems in accordance with ANSI/AARST standards, NRPP best practices, manufacturer specifications, and established quality expectations.
Contractors perform installations safely, professionally, and efficiently while providing exceptional customer service in occupied homes and commercial buildings.
Responsibilities
- Install residential and light commercial radon mitigation systems.
- Install PVC piping, suction points, mitigation fans, discharge piping, and related system components.
- Seal slab openings, sump lids, and foundation penetrations.
- Verify proper system operation and airflow.
- Maintain clean and organized job sites.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners and property managers.
- Photograph completed installations.
- Complete all required installation documentation.
- Notify management of unexpected site conditions before proceeding with work.
- Follow all OSHA safety practices and applicable building codes.
- Maintain a professional appearance and courteous attitude.
Minimum Qualifications
- NRPP Certified Radon Mitigation Specialist (preferred)
- Experience installing active soil depressurization systems
- Valid Michigan Driver's License
- Reliable work vehicle capable of transporting ladders and tools
- Ability to safely work on ladders and roofs
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, and basements
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
Independent Contractor Requirements
Contractors must:
- Operate as an independent business (LLC or sole proprietorship preferred)
- Maintain any required business licenses
- Carry general liability insurance
- Maintain their own vehicle, tools, and equipment (unless otherwise agreed)
- Provide their own mobile phone
- Submit invoices for completed work
- Maintain availability and communicate scheduling promptly

Compensation may be structured as:

- Successfully pass a criminal background check, as work is performed in occupied residences.
