Overview
Join our dynamic team as an Optometric Technician, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our eye care professionals. In this engaging position, you will assist with various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for our patients. Duties
- Conduct patient intake by gathering medical history and performing preliminary assessments.
- Accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in various clinical procedures, including Autorefraction, Icare tonometry, Eidon fundus photos, OCT, Neurolens, Rabin cone testing, RetEval ERG.
- Provide optical support by helping patients select eyewear, explaining lens options and providing contact lens training to patients.
- Maintain medical records accurately within EMR systems such as Revolution EHR.
- Collaborate with the optometrist during examinations and treatments, providing necessary assistance.
- Educate patients on proper eye care and follow-up procedures.
- Handle front desk responsibilities including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, chart prep and patient check-in/out processes.
- Ensure the clinic is organized and well-stocked with necessary supplies for daily operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred; optical or ophthalmology experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy.
- Familiarity with EMR systems; experience with Revolution is highly desirable.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Understanding of retail sales principles, including retail math for eyewear transactions.
- Experience in medical coding and billing is advantageous.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while demonstrating professionalism at all times.
