About the Role
AWS is hiring Infrastructure Delivery (ID) Install Technicians at our Louisa, Virginia data center campus. This role is focused on building and installing data center infrastructure from the ground up — you'll be racking and stacking equipment, running fiber and copper cabling, deploying network infrastructure, and bringing new data center capacity online.
This is different from Data Center Operations (DCO). DCO maintains live infrastructure — ID Install builds it. You're the team that turns an empty data hall into a fully operational, production-ready environment.
If your background is in structured cabling, rack deployment, fiber installation, or network hardware builds — this is your role.
This is NOT a desk job. You'll be physically building data center infrastructure every shift.
What ID Install Technicians Do (Day-to-Day)
● Rack & Stack: Install server racks, networking cabinets, and hardware into empty data halls — building from bare floor to production-ready
● Fiber Cabling: Install, route, and terminate fiber optic cables (LC, MPO/MTP, single-mode, multi-mode) across data center environments
● Copper Cabling: Install and terminate copper cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A) with proper cable management and labeling
● Network Deployment: Install and deploy network switches, patch panels, and connectivity hardware
● PDU Installation: Deploy intelligent PDUs, verify power circuits, and patch into rack infrastructure
● Testing & Validation: Test installed cabling and connections using OTDR, Fluke testers, VFL, and power meters
● Cable Management: Route cables through overhead trays, maintain clean pathways, proper bend radius, and clear labeling per AWS standards
● Documentation: Track deployments through ticketing systems, complete work orders, and maintain as-built documentation
● Quality Standards: Follow strict SOPs, MOPs, and AWS site-specific installation standards on every deployment
● Safety Compliance: Adhere to all ESD, PPE, and safety protocols while working in mission-critical environments
What You Bring Required (L3 — $30.77/hr):
● High school diploma or equivalent
● 1+ year of hands-on experience in technical/vocational work — structured cabling, IT hardware installation, or data center infrastructure deployment
● Experience with fiber optic and copper cable installation
● Familiarity with rack and stack operations (server hardware, networking equipment)
● Ability to follow SOPs and maintain quality standards in a fast-paced, physical environment
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders, and stand/walk for extended periods
● Flexible scheduling — must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating shift
● Must be local to or willing to relocate to Louisa, VA
● Must be US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or EAD holder (no H1B sponsorship available)
Preferred (L4 — $38.30/hr + RSUs + Sign-On Bonus):
● 18+ months of data center infrastructure experience
● 18+ months of hands-on fiber handling experience (installation, termination, testing)
● Advanced fiber testing — Fluke Versiv 2, OTDR, VFL, AFL Power Meter
● Experience with 10G/40G/100G/400G optical network deployments
● Hands-on experience with intelligent PDU installation and network patching
● Ability to independently diagnose connectivity issues — polarity mismatches, transceiver pairings, bent fibers
● Network deployment experience — switch installs, port turn-ups, patch panel builds
● Active certifications: CCNA, Network+, BICSI INSTC, RCDD, or equivalent
● Experience mentoring or training junior technicians
● Ability to lead small installation teams and manage project timelines
Work Schedule:
● 4x10 shifts (Sun–Wed OR Wed–Sat) or rotating 12-hour shifts
● Shifts include days AND nights — rotation changes quarterly
● Must be flexible for nights, weekends, and holidays
● Maximum 60 hours per week; overtime available but not guaranteed

● Military veterans (25B, 25U, 25N, 25S — communications, IT, fiber, electronics)
● Cable installation companies (fiber to the home, fiber backbone)
● Commercial electricians with structured cabling crossover
Work Environment:
● You'll work on the data center floor in a climate-controlled environment
● Standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), ladder work, and repetitive physical tasks are part of every shift
● Safety compliance (ESD protocols, PPE) is non-negotiable
● Strict security protocols apply when accessing facility areas
