Job Overview
PRAISE Day Program is seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support adults with developmental disabilities in our community-based day program. In this role, you will accompany clients on community outings, help implement individualized program plans (IPPs), and teach practical life and vocational skills in real-world settings. Duties
- Accompany and support participants during community outings, volunteer work, and recreational activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Teach and reinforce practical skills including communication, self-care, money management, and social interaction in accordance with each participant's IPP.
- Implement individualized program plans using positive reinforcement strategies and person-centered approaches.
- Monitor participants for signs of distress or behavioral concerns and follow established behavior support plans, using de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Maintain accurate daily data records, progress notes, and incident reports as required by the program and regulatory agencies.
- Assist participants during meal and snack times and help maintain cleanliness in activity areas.
- Support participants in engaging with recreational, educational, and vocational activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
- Communicate professionally with program staff, supervisors, and client families in accordance with HIPAA and program confidentiality policies.
- Follow all health, safety, and emergency protocols, including infection control practices and the program's emergency preparedness procedures.
- Attend mandatory staff trainings and meetings as required.
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a day program, community, school, or similar setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with person-centered planning, IPP implementation, and positive behavioral supports is a plus.
- Ability to engage, motivate, and support individuals with a variety of developmental and behavioral needs.
- Strong documentation skills and comfort recording data and progress notes accurately.
- CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire (PRAISE provides annual group training at no cost).
- Must be able to pass a DOJ fingerprint clearance, Child Abuse Index Check, and Sex Offender Registry Check prior to working with clients.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are preferred, as the role involves regular community-based activities.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
