Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and construction equipment to ensure optimal operational performance. Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, and electrical components using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and advanced electrical/automotive diagnostics tools.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on heavy construction machinery including excavators, cranes, loaders, bulldozers, and farm machinery to maximize equipment lifespan and reliability.
- Fabricate custom parts or modifications as needed using power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and hand tools to meet specific operational requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to air brake systems, HVAC units on equipment, alignment problems, hydraulics, and suspension systems with precision.
- Perform tire service, wheel alignments, and heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings for each piece of equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications while providing excellent customer service to internal teams or clients.
Skills
- Extensive dealership experience with heavy equipment maintenance and repair highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brake systems.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex machinery issues.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding, soldering, and assembly of custom parts or modifications.
- Experience working with construction machinery such as excavators, cranes (including power tools used for repairs), forklifts, tractors-trailers, and other industrial equipment.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively during maintenance or troubleshooting procedures.
- Excellent diagnostic skills in both electrical diagnostics and automotive diagnostics to identify root causes quickly.
- Familiarity with OEM parts sourcing and service procedures for Caterpillar or similar brands.
- Competence in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, tire service tools, and other maintenance apparatus.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly with team members or clients regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
