Duties and Responsibilities
As a member of our founding team, teachers play a critical role in ensuring we provide all students with an excellent education. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Advise teachers on modifying/accommodating curriculum for ELL students
- Provide regular (weekly or bi-weekly) updates for teachers about student progress and the content of their ESL course
- Work with teachers to include aligned WIDA standards in curricular planning documents (as required)
- Teach substantially separate-ESL class in accordance with state hour requirements
- Provide inclusion support in content classes for ELL students, if needed, in accordance with state hour requirements
- Provide literacy (or other) instruction specifically during DEAR
- Manage ELL program - paperwork, trainings for teachers, parent & student communication, student testing/screening, compliance, ELL folders
- Manage and oversee roll out of WIDA standards
- Align student support services with the school’s mission and educational philosophy
- Communicate frequently with parents
- Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
- Preferred skills and work experience:
- Demonstrates persistence in overcoming and removing obstacles to goal achievement
- Demonstrates a drive, commitment and sense of urgency that inspires others to achieve results
- Demonstrated success working with students in traditionally underserved communities
- Critical thinker and problem-solver
- Collaborative team player
- Willingness to engage in frequent dialogue and to be self-reflective with regard to teaching practices
- Commitment to analyzing student data to push student achievement forward
- Ability to work with a variety of learning abilities and differentiate for those students with special needs and English Learners
- Successful classroom manager who firmly believes that a structured environment and high behavioral expectations for all students lead to student achievement
- Spanish fluency highly desirable
