Mesa Provisions is looking for a server's assistant to join our tight-knit, guest-focused team. We believe the dining experience should be approachable but professional, and service should feel effortless but attentive. Our support staff is the backbone of the dining room, and sets the tone for the guest experience. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, outgoing, with an interest in fine dining and providing excellent service.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Table Maintenance and Presentation
Fine dining service includes maintaining a pristine table: resetting silverware, managing glassware, clearing crumbs, and ensuring everything looks immaculate throughout the meal. You are responsible for assisting the team with maintaining cleanliness and presentation by promptly clearing, sanitizing, and resetting tables according to our defined standards. It is vital that you maintain awareness of guest needs and respond promptly and professionally to service requests in coordination with the servers.
Communication and Teamwork
You’ll work closely with hosts, bartenders, server’s assistants, and kitchen staff. Clear, concise communication ensures smooth service, especially during busy periods. You are expected to effectively communicate and coordinate with servers, kitchen staff, hosts, and management during high-volume service periods.
Maintaining Cleanliness and Organization
Alongside your fellow employees, you’re responsible for the upkeep of clean surfaces and service areas, and organized workstations. This means constant monitoring of the restaurant to ensure that our standards of cleanliness are upheld. Providing a clean and tidy environment for our guests and our work is a top priority.
Adhering to Standards and Procedures
You’re expected to adhere to the systems for setup, breakdown, and service flow. Following these precisely—and consistently—is essential. You will also be required to perform opening, closing, and side-work duties as assigned.
Physical Stamina and Efficiency
The role is fast-paced and physically demanding: lifting kegs, carrying racks of glassware, moving quickly in tight spaces, and staying on your feet for long periods. The end of your shift will be marked by a walk-through of closing tasks and communication from the bartenders and manager on duty prior to being cut.
Professional Appearance and Conduct
A polished appearance and composed demeanor are essential. You represent the restaurant’s brand at all times. You’re expected to adhere to the dress code policy, cell phone policy, maintain a clean uniform, and limit personal conversations in guests’ presence. We expect your interactions with guests to be professional and friendly.
