This position supports the school in meeting the educational, emotional, and physical goals of students. The School Nurse generally works individually with students
Preferred hours: .2 FTE - 1 day per week from 7:00am to 3:00pm. Negotiable/to be determined.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Administer first aid and episodic care in accordance with school/district policy
- Arrange for transportation of students and staff who become ill or are injured at school
- Make appropriate referrals to parents
- Administer medication only to students having appropriate forms completed
- Keep an accurate record of medication administered
- Dissemination of information to appropriate staff and support personnel (food services, teacher, and transportation)
- Be responsible for health services operational tasks including:
- Maintenance of accurate student health charts (i.e. initiate new/transfer student's health cards and collect, review, record and file health information)
- Prepare accident reports, confidential health lists, health history updates, parent notification forms, immunization reports, etc.
- Complete inventory for health office supplies and stock office
- Issue first aid supplies to staff for classrooms and field trips
- Data entry of all emergency information, annual health information, and confidential health information for district student data management system
- Filing, answering phone calls and other related functions for maintenance of an organized and effective health office, including maintaining notes for substitute when absent
- Assist with enforcement of immunization regulations
- Provide student, parent and staff education as appropriate
- Medical Emergency Response Team - participate in crisis, lockdown, and emergency procedures/activities
- Assist with student health screenings as appropriate
- Clean health office and equipment using appropriate products for Blood-Borne Pathogen control
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal
