We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health challenges. This role involves supporting residents in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare or caregiving, with experience working in group homes, assisted living, or home health settings. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor residents’ health status by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs
- Assist with mobility using equipment
- Provide patient care including wound care, memory care, and autism support
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and resident progress in compliance with healthcare standards
- Support residents’ emotional well-being through companionship and social engagement
- Follow safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures to ensure a secure environment
- Perform light cleaning duties to maintain a hygienic living space
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Assist with transportation to appointments or community activities as needed
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable; willingness to obtain these certifications required if not already certified
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s/dementia care, autism spectrum disorders, or hospice care is a plus
- Ability to lift loads up to 35lbs safely
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Compassionate attitude with a commitment to providing respectful and person-centered care
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed; previous experience in long-term or home health care is advantageous
