We are seeking experienced Journeyman HVAC Service Technicians to support a newly awarded contract servicing a local public school system. This position is focused exclusively on commercial HVAC systems in educational and institutional facilities. No residential work is required.
Position Summary
The Journeyman HVAC Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and retrofit of commercial HVAC systems. This individual will serve as a direct customer contact while ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment in a commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment and systems
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and service calls
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and mechanical drawings
- Inspect equipment and identify repair or replacement needs
- Order and manage parts required for service and repair work
- Complete service documentation, work orders, and daily reports accurately
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and service literature
- Provide technical support and recommendations to customers
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company and customer standards
- Travel to customer sites throughout the service area as required
- Participate in overtime or weekend work when necessary
Qualifications
- Approximately5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience (strong candidates with slightly less experience will be considered)
- Experience troubleshooting and servicing a variety of commercial HVAC equipment
- EPA Certification required
- Virginia HVAC Journeyman License preferred
- Additional certifications such as Boiler Operator or Gas Installer are a plus
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening

Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance
- Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other commercial facility environments

Pay: $36.00 - $58.00 per hour
