Position Description
Duties and responsibilities of a manufacturing employee include operating and controlling chemical compounding equipment, transferring, and labelling bulk batches, and ensuring that all batches of a given product meet the manufacturing and quality specifications. A manufacturing employee inspects and samples raw materials and bulk products and ensures that all equipment and utensils are clean, sanitized and stored properly. A manufacturing employee knows and understands current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and adheres to all manufacturing safety and hygiene guidelines and standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Manufacturing Employee
- Maintain accurate inventory of all raw materials, intermediate materials, and bulk material stored in various sized containers, i.e. drums, mixing totes, cartons, bags, etc.
- Sample raw materials from bags, drums and bulk storage tanks and delivers to Quality Control.
- Utilize manufacturing equipment and in-process instrumentation to manufacture products in accordance to good manufacturing practices (GMP) and FDA regulations.
- Complete and review all batch record documentation including but not limited to weighing raw materials, in process batch, and cleaning process according to established internal procedures and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
- Excellent good documentation practice (GDP) skills as per FDA and company protocols.
- Address problems with manufacturing equipment and machinery and fix/report as appropriate.
- Disassembles/assembles equipment parts and cleans and sanitizes equipment by hand.
- Observes and removes or reports expired or nonconforming raw materials, equipment such as hoses and drums from manufacturing.
- Follow all procedures and GMPs and maintains all sanitation requirements.
- Comply with all safety standards, including adequate use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and use of powered industrial trucks.
- Participate in facility safety and quality programs and adhere to all safety policies and procedures including but not limited to use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and powered industrial trucks.
- Reports issues or problems immediately to supervisor.
- Perform all computer data entry involved with inputting batch ticket information in order to maintain accurate records and inventory.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates ability to interpret equipment gauges and monitors on factory equipment.
- Possesses knowledge of the structure and function of manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to identify problems or malfunctions with machinery and equipment.
- Demonstrates analytical thinking and problem- solving skills necessary to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
- Pays close attention to detail and good documentation practices (GDP).
- Exhibits ability to work cautiously but efficiently under regulated Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) conditions.
- Is familiar with all manufacturing safety and hygiene procedures and guidelines.
- Demonstrates ability to use power tools and trucks safely and effectively.
- Works efficiently and manages time effectively.
- Possesses physical strength and stamina required to stand, walk, and lift for long periods of time.
- Possesses physical dexterity necessary to assemble small and delicate product parts.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Certification and licensing to operate factory machinery is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facility or warehouse setting is recommended.
Work Environment
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) operated facility (gloves, hairnets, beard nets must be worn).
- Standard 40-hour workweek applies. Scheduled overtime is mandatory.
- Working hours will be spent in the factory or warehouse.
- Moderate to heavy physical activity is required on a daily basis. Must be able to walk, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, climb portable stairs in order to load raw materials into kettle. (.
- Must be able to frequently move 50-80 lbs., lift a maximum weight of 20 kgs and push and pull in order to move drums up to 450 lbs.
- Gloves, hairnets and beard nets must be worn on a regular basis.
