Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Residential Building Design Project Manager to lead and oversee residential and residential design projects within our firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential design project coordination, excellent leadership abilities, and proven experience guiding projects from concept through permitting. This role requires effective communication with clients, consultants, and internal team members, along with the ability to balance multiple projects while maintaining alignment with firm goals and client expectations.
Duties
- Lead project planning sessions by defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
- Manage project schedules, consultant coordination, and budgets to ensure timely and accurate project completion.
- Facilitate meetings with clients, engineers, surveyors, and permitting agencies to gather requirements and provide progress updates.
- Oversee the preparation of design documents, drawings, and specifications, ensuring they meet quality and code standards.
- Identify project challenges early and implement strategies to resolve them efficiently.
- Supervise design staff, providing guidance, redlines, and support throughout all phases of design and documentation.
- Monitor project milestones and permitting processes to ensure deadlines are achieved.
- Coordinate with external consultants (engineers, surveyors, etc.) and manage deliverables.
- Implement risk management practices and develop mitigation strategies when challenges arise.
- Use project management and design tools such as Google Workspace, Chief Architect, AutoCAD/Revit, and project tracking platforms to organize and report on project progress.
Skills
- Project Manager must be successfully familiar with construction blueprints
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams in an architectural or design environment.
- Proficient in project coordination, budgeting, and scheduling techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects.
- Knowledge of Washington State building codes, permitting processes, and compliance requirements preferred.
- Effective communication and client management skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to clients, consultants, and permitting authorities.
- Ability to manage priorities, resolve conflicts, and keep projects moving forward.
- Proficiency with design and project management software (Chief Architect, AutoCAD/Revit, Smartsheet, Google Sheets, etc.).
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
