Location Profile:
Headquartered in Irvine, CA, Shur-Lok manufactures fastening systems with superior locking devices for critical requirements, including engine module assembly, structural assembly, rotor blade attachment, and aircraft engine shaft and spindle applications. Operations at the Irvine location include CNC Machining, CNC Waterjet Cutting, Laser Marking, Heat Treating, NDT, and EDM.
Position Summary:
Under minimal supervision, Level 2 machinists operate 1-2 standalone machine cells (2-4 axis CNC machines).Requires basic machine setup, preparing fixtures, and cutting tools.
Experience loading CNC programs, adjusting offsets, and understanding of common G and M codes. A Level 2 machinist competencies include the ability to use quality inspection tools and techniques such as O.D. Micrometers, Bore Micrometers, Calipers, height gauge, air gauges, gauge pins, optical comparator, and related bench inspection. The level 2 machinist will have basic competencies in blueprint reading, SPC, Inspection data recording.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform basic setup operations, including fixtures, cutting tools, and CNC programs.
- Maintain product quality by monitoring and adjusting CNC offsets as needed.
- Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and inspection tools.
- Meets production demands.
- Run production on multiple machines at once. (Primary & Secondary)
Required Skills:
- The ability to identify and correctly load work proper holding fixtures with minimal assistance.
- A working knowledge of G and M codes applied in setting and adjusting offsets and interacting with CNC programs.
- A working knowledge of shop math, including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, and basic geometry.
- The ability to read basic prints in English and apply basic dimensional specifications to inspection processes.
Required Experience:
- Typically, this position requires evidence of success in level one machining duties for at least one year before promotion or hire.
- 5-7 years of experience
Level of Education:
- GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
