This role includes general substitute coverage across PreK12, as well as student-specific nursing coverage for a student requiring access to prescribed rescue medication, as needed during the school day.The Substitute School Nurse supports a safe and healthy school environment by responding to medical needs, administering medications as ordered, and promoting student wellness in accordance with district policy and Massachusetts regulations.________________________________________Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct nursing care to students and staff, including first aid, medication administration, and management of acute and chronic health conditionsAdminister prescribed medications, including rescue medications, in accordance with physician orders, district protocols, and individual health plansImplement and follow Individualized Health Care Plans (IHCPs) and Emergency Action Plans as applicableAssess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergenciesMonitor student health status and respond appropriately to emergent situationsMaintain accurate and confidential health records in compliance with state and district requirementsCommunicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns, as appropriateCollaborate with school administrators, counselors, and staff to support student safety and well-beingAdhere to all district, DESE, and Department of Public Health and safety regulations________________________________________
