Overview
Join our dynamic team as an AP/AR Specialist within the Construction Industry, where you'll play a vital role in managing accounts payable and receivable processes that keep projects moving forward smoothly. Duties
- Process and verify accounts payable invoices, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and company policies using industry-leading accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero.
- Manage accounts receivable activities by invoicing clients promptly, tracking outstanding payments, and following up on overdue accounts to optimize cash flow.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations for the general ledger, balance sheets, and subsidiary ledgers to maintain financial accuracy aligned with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Prepare journal entries related to payroll management, project costs, and other financial transactions using systems like Workday, ADP, Kronos, or UltiPro.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures by reconciling accounts payable and receivable ledgers, analyzing discrepancies, and preparing reports for management review.
- Support compliance efforts by ensuring adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and maintaining meticulous documentation of all financial transactions.
- Collaborate with internal teams on budgeting processes, account analysis, and tax-related activities specific to construction projects and governmental regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate accounting within the construction industry or a related field involving complex project-based financial management.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles such as GAAP and governmental accounting standards applicable to construction projects.
- Hands-on experience with various accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with payroll systems like ADP or UltiPro along with payroll management best practices.
- Demonstrated ability in account reconciliation, journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping, and balance sheet analysis.
- Knowledge of tax regulations relevant to construction accounting including non-profit considerations if applicable.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing), along with math proficiency for financial analysis and credit assessments.
