Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the collision repair shop, including workflow, staffing, and customer interactions.
- Oversee auto body repair processes, ensuring repairs meet quality standards using auto painting, aluminum repair, metal fabrication, and automotive body refinishing techniques.
- Coordinate vehicle damage estimating using computer-aided tools and ensure accurate documentation of repair scopes.
- Supervise technicians in auto glass replacement, auto restoration, detailing, and collision repair tasks involving heavy lifting and power tools.
- Enforce safety protocols by ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), compliance with safety regulations, and safe operation of all equipment including hand tools and power tools.
- Manage inventory of paints, auto body parts, auto parts for repairs, and maintenance supplies while minimizing waste through effective resource management.
- Resolve defect root causes by analyzing repair processes and implementing continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding repair progress, estimates, and timelines to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, safety incidents, training sessions, and shop performance metrics.
Experience
- Proven experience managing a collision repair or auto body shop with hands-on knowledge of auto painting, aluminum repairs, metal fabrication, and automotive refinishing techniques.
- Strong dealership or collision shop background preferred; familiarity with automotive repair processes is essential.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with experience using technical tools such as power tools and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating software.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of technicians while fostering a positive work environment focused on safety and quality.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to collision repair shops including PPE use and hazardous material handling.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during auto restoration or auto body repairs.
