Vacancy: Computer Education Teacher

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will:
- Be a visionary leader with a thorough understanding of computer science standards, utilizing them to create
a dynamic program and curriculum for all fifth and sixth-grade students
- Have a strong understanding of Google Workspace and use this platform with students as they utilize to a
variety of Google Workspace tools to plan, create, share, and present authentic work samples and
assignments
- Cultivate a classroom learning environment that encourages student agency while fostering creativity,
hands-on learning, problem-solving, collaboration, critical thinking, and reflection
- Create meaningful opportunities for students to use a variety of digital tools to demonstrate learning and
concept understanding in multiple ways, promoting choice, autonomy, and innovation
- Work in collaboration with Reed’s STEM Teacher to support students as they learn and practice essential
engineering skills related to planning and design with coding and robotics
- Guide students as they engage in the engineering design process to design, plan and create 3D models using
TinkerCad prior to manufacturing products using a 3D printer
- Provide students with learning experiences that allow them to solve authentic, real-world problems as they
further develop and apply the essential skills outlined in Newtown’s Portrait of a Graduate
- Promote and teach students to demonstrate responsible, digital citizenship when using technology within all
of their classes to ensure online safety
- Teach students how to evaluate various online sources to assess reliable and misinformation
- Support students as they learn about the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI), how it can be used, as well
as the expectations for AI usage within our school community
Responsibilities:
The computer teacher will have an amazing opportunity to build a modern and relevant program for intermediate
students. Through collaboration with colleagues, the teacher will support technology integration and usage within
multiple learning spaces within the building. The computer teacher will be responsible for providing intentional and
engaging instruction to all fifth and sixth-grade students.
