We are looking for an energetic, relationship-driven Director of Community Relations & Business Development to help us expand our presence in the community and drive continued growth.

About the Role
The Director of Community Relations & Business Development will be the face of Assisting Hands in the community and will play a critical role in developing new referral relationships and generating private-pay home care business.
The ideal candidate is a natural relationship builder who is comfortable walking into a hospital, rehabilitation facility, assisted living community, physician's office, senior living community, or professional office and establishing meaningful connections.
This is a high-touch, relationship-based business development role. Success will come from being visible in the community, developing trust with referral partners, understanding their needs, consistently following up, and becoming the person they think of when a family needs home care.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Referral Growth
- Develop and execute a strategic community outreach plan to increase referrals and new client acquisition.
- Identify, establish, and cultivate relationships with high-value referral sources.
- Develop relationships with hospitals, rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and senior living communities, physicians, social workers, discharge planners, nurse case managers, geriatric care managers, hospice organizations, elder-law professionals, fiduciaries, insurance professionals, and other healthcare and senior-care organizations.
- Regularly visit referral partners and maintain a consistent presence within the community.
- Represent Assisting Hands at networking events, professional meetings, community events, educational programs, senior events and other outreach opportunities.
- Identify new partnership and referral opportunities within our market.
- Build mutually beneficial relationships that generate a consistent pipeline of qualified referrals.
Referral Management & Client Development
- Respond quickly and professionally to referrals and inquiries.
- Serve as a liaison between referral sources, prospective clients, families and the Assisting Hands team.
- Help facilitate the referral-to-client process and ensure prospective clients receive an exceptional experience from their first interaction with our company.
- Follow up consistently with referral sources and prospective clients.
- Track referrals, referral sources, conversion rates and business-development activity.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships with existing referral partners and increase referral volume.
Community & Brand Development
- Become a knowledgeable and trusted resource within the senior-care community.
- Educate professionals and consumers about the services Assisting Hands provides and when home care may be appropriate.
- Help develop educational programs, presentations, community events and other outreach initiatives.
- Increase awareness of Assisting Hands throughout our service area.
- Monitor community trends, competitive activity and emerging opportunities and communicate findings to leadership.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with the Director of Operations and care team to ensure a seamless transition from referral to client.
- Communicate referral-source feedback and market intelligence to leadership.
- Collaborate with the operations team to ensure that the experience promised to referral partners and families is consistently delivered.
- Help identify opportunities to improve client satisfaction, referral relationships and overall business performance.

Ideal Background
Experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred:
- Home care
- Senior living
- Skilled nursing / rehabilitation
- Hospital or healthcare business development
- Hospice
- Healthcare sales
- Community relations
- Senior services
- Geriatric care management
- Medical or pharmaceutical sales
- Professional services business development
However, industry experience is not the only thing we value. An exceptional salesperson, community connector, or relationship-driven professional with a demonstrated history of generating business and building long-term relationships may be an excellent fit.
How Success Will Be Measured
This is a growth position, and success will be measured by both activity and results, including:
- Growth in referral relationships
- Number and quality of referral-source relationships

Compensation: Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentives/bonus opportunity.
Schedule: Full-time
Location: Northern New Jersey, with significant community-based activity throughout our service area.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
