Alma Recovery Center is a behavioral health organization providing integrated substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health treatment services in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We are seeking a compassionate, recovery-oriented Certified Peer Support Worker (CPSW) to join our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) team.
The CPSW uses lived recovery experience, peer support principles, and recovery-focused interventions to help clients build hope, develop recovery skills, strengthen community connections, and achieve their personal recovery goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide peer support services to individuals receiving substance use disorder and co-occurring treatment services.
- Facilitate peer-led recovery groups, wellness groups, and recovery support activities.
- Assist clients in identifying personal strengths, recovery goals, and community resources.
- Support clients in developing recovery skills, coping strategies, and wellness plans.
- Promote hope, self-advocacy, empowerment, and personal responsibility in recovery.
- Assist clients in navigating behavioral health, medical, social service, employment, housing, and community support systems.
- Provide recovery coaching and support consistent with peer support principles.
- Encourage participation in recovery meetings, support groups, and pro-social community activities.
- Document services accurately and timely, in accordance with Medicaid and agency requirements.
- Coordinate with the treatment team regarding client progress, barriers, and support needs.
- Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and treatment team reviews.
- Utilize trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented approaches to care.
- Support client engagement, retention, and successful transition to continuing care services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current New Mexico Certified Peer Support Worker (CPSW) certification required.
- Personal lived experience in recovery and willingness to utilize lived experience appropriately in supporting others.
- Knowledge of recovery principles, peer support practices, and community resources.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively with adults experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, or recovery support services.
- Experience facilitating groups.
- Knowledge of community recovery resources and support systems.
- Experience working with Medicaid populations.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and recovery-oriented systems of care.
