Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
- Measure vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor patient health status
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort
- Support physicians with clinical tasks such as medication administration, wound care, or specimen collection in outpatient or inpatient settings
- Operate medical equipment including X-ray machines or other diagnostic tools within scope of certification and training
- Document clinical notes accurately using medical terminology and ICD coding for billing and recordkeeping purposes
- Coordinate patient flow by scheduling appointments, managing follow-up visits, and facilitating communication between departments such as radiology or pharmacy
Experience
- Prior experience working in hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology across various specialties including geriatrics, internal medicine, or surgical environments
- Hands-on experience with EHR systems and medical administrative support tasks such as appointment scheduling and patient check-in/out processes
- Exposure to emergency medicine settings like Level I or Level II trauma centers enhances readiness for high-pressure situations
- Familiarity with inpatient care procedures including PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or OR (Operating Room) experience is a plus
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications related to radiology or medication administration are advantageous
- Experience working with diverse patient populations across outpatient clinics or hospital units ensures adaptable and compassionate care delivery
