Pay: $65,000-$85,000 annually (based on experience)

About the Role
We're looking for a Tax Associate who can independently prepare tax returns while helping us build a growing tax practice. The ideal candidate takes ownership, solves problems, embraces technology, and wants to expand beyond traditional tax preparation responsibilities.
You'll work directly with a CPA, gain exposure to tax planning, client relationships, and practice operations, and have the opportunity to grow into a larger role as the tax business expands.

Minimum Requirements
- Experience independently preparing individual Form 1040 tax returns.
- Ability to prepare standard individual returns with limited supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable learning and using technology and AI tools.
- Must be located in Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a CPA firm, tax preparation firm, or financial services environment.
- Experience with tax software, CRM systems, and client portals.
- Experience preparing 100+ individual tax returns.
- Experience reviewing returns or supporting tax planning initiatives.
- Working toward a CPA license or interested in long-term growth within the profession.
Key ResponsibilitiesTax Preparation & Client Service
- Prepare individual tax returns (Form 1040) for CPA review.
- Analyze tax documents and identify missing information.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding tax questions and document requests.
- Prepare extensions, estimated tax payments, and state filings.
- Assist with tax notices and resolution workflows.
- Ensure tax returns are completed accurately and on time.
Tax Operations
- Manage tax client onboarding and document collection.
- Review incoming documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Monitor workflow status and proactively address bottlenecks.
- Manage e-file processes and filing confirmations.
- Help maintain an organized and scalable tax preparation process.
Tax Planning Support
- Assist with tax planning opportunities and client deliverables.
- Help identify potential tax savings strategies for CPA review.
- Participate in client meetings when appropriate.
- Support year-round tax-related projects and initiatives.
Growth & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and client experience.
- Help build scalable processes as the tax practice grows.
- Leverage technology and AI tools to improve efficiency.
- Support firm initiatives and special projects as assigned.
