OrthoGeorgia is searching for a full time Appointment Scheduler for our busy Orthopaedic practice. This position schedules patients for multiple providers in multiple locations. Prior patient scheduling experience in an office or hospital setting is preferred. Familiar with high call volumes is a plus. Experienced applicants only.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for answering phone calls and scheduling patient appointment.
- Gathers and updates insurance information, personal data and notifies patients of financial expectations.
- Determines which physician to place patient with based upon pre-determined criteria.
- Communicates and collaborates with providers and provider’s staff to ensure patient scheduling needs are met.
- Have basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of medical insurance plans and benefits
- Ensure proper HIPAA practices/precautions are followed
- Be knowledgeable on HIPAA laws and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one year of experience in medical office setting.
- Strong communication skills, ability to communicate with patients, office staff and others in a clear, positive, and professional manner
- Ability to interpret and respond clearly and effectively to spoken requests over the phone or in person, and to verbal or written instructions.
- Ability to operate a variety of standard office machines, including a personal computer and a variety of software programs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Athena EMR system is a plus.
