American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Stepdown position at a major academic medical center in Ohio, requiring 2 years of progressive care experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Mixed acuity PCU/Stepdown unit with 32 beds and an average daily census of 25–32 patients
-
Patient population includes medical diagnoses and pre- and post-surgical patients requiring PCU-level care

Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3x12-hour shifts)

36 hours per week with every other weekend required

Floating within the hospital organization is required

On-call responsibilities are required

Active OH or compact RN license required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required

Minimum 2 years of recent progressive care (PCU/Stepdown) experience required

Experience with similar PCU/Stepdown patient populations required

Teaching hospital experience welcomed

Two professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the 2nd reference — no coworker references accepted

Preferred skills include telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response/code teams, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC care, heparin protocols, respiratory support, wound care, and pre/post-surgical patient care

Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be initiated promptly after accepting an offer — candidates outside Ohio may need to travel to a fingerprinting location or will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to complete urgently

Scrub color and dress code details are provided at orientation

One pre-approved time-off request is allowed per contract, limited to 7 days or fewer, and must be submitted at the time of application
