Barr Fabrication Field Services is seeking GWO certified Wind Technicians for the position of Bolt Extraction Tech I/II. Technicians in this position perform up-tower machine operations in Wind Turbine Generators.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
· Drilling and extracting broken fasteners
· Drilling/tapping damaged threads to accommodate helical inserts
· Drilling/tapping damaged threads to accommodate solid threaded inserts
· The removal of broken taps, ease-outs, and other HSS tooling via EDM processing.
Must Travel 100% - Flexible R&R schedules available.
While traveling, you receive a daily per diem to cover the cost of meals and incidentals. Company provides hotels and transportation. PAID TRAVEL TIME!!
This is a 100% travel role for work to be done across the United States.
Pay Range: $28-$32+/hour depending on experience, overtime expected.

Requirements/Qualifications
- GWO BST & ART
- Minimum 1yr Wind Turbine experience
- Must be 21yrs of age or older
- Must Pass Driving Record Check
- Must Pass Criminal Background Check
- Must Pass Fit for Duty Medical Evaluation
- Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Card
Experience:
· 1 year of machining experience (manual or CNC)
· Able to read technical drawings/schematics
· Proficient mathematical skills related to 1) the conversion of measurements, 2) calculation of percentages, and 3) solving for geometrical features of circles and regular polygons.
· Physically able to climb up to 90m+ (300’), stand, stoop, walk, crawl, crouch, and generally meet the physical demands of the position.
· Familiar with the use of measurement tools—tape measures, digital calipers, depth micrometers, bore gages, thread pitch gages, dial indicators, and coaxial indicators.
· Familiar with the use of hammers/chisels, pipe-wrenches, double-nuts, welded nuts, ease-outs, and other implements, to mechanically extract broken or seized fasteners.
· Familiar with the tapping techniques used to ensure quality thread-forms. These include, but may not be limited to, 1) adequate lubrication, 2) equal and opposite application of torque, 3) breaking the chip, and 4) checking for squareness.
· Familiar with the safe practices regarding the use of hydraulic torque wrenches and tensioners.
· Able to recognize and correct machining errors, such as poor chip evacuation, drill crowding, insufficient mag force, dull/worn cutting edges, and tool walking.
