Position Summary
Atlas Surgery Center is seeking a Circulating Registered Nurse / OR RN to provide perioperative nursing care and support in a fast-paced operating room setting. This role is primarily responsible for supporting the intraoperative phase of care, maintaining the operating room environment, collaborating with the surgical team, and promoting safe, efficient, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Function as a circulating nurse in the operating room.
- Prepare the operating room for scheduled procedures, including equipment, supplies, instruments, medications, and other case-specific needs.
- Verify patient identity, procedure, surgical site, allergies, consent, documentation, and readiness for surgery.
- Participate in surgical time-outs, counts, and other required patient safety checks.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other clinical team members.
- Assist with patient positioning, transfers, comfort, privacy, and safety.
- Maintain aseptic technique, sterile field integrity, and infection prevention standards.
- Monitor patient condition during procedures and communicate changes or concerns to the appropriate clinical team members.
- Accurately document intraoperative nursing care and required information in the medical record.
- Administer and/or monitor moderate sedation in accordance with physician order, RN scope of practice, demonstrated competency, certification requirements, and facility policy.
- Assist with operating room turnover, cleaning, restocking, and safe transitions of care.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current and valid New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing.
- Minimum of one year of circulating OR/perioperative nursing experience required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required or ability to obtain ACLS certification within one year of hire. Company-paid ACLS training will be provided, if needed.
- Strong assessment, communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical care environment.
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and high-quality care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of circulating OR/perioperative nursing experience.
- Ambulatory surgery center experience.
- Experience with neurosurgical, endovascular, interventional radiology, interventional pain, or procedural care.
- Experience with electronic medical records and surgical documentation.
Schedule/ Work Hours
This is a full-time position. Work hours may vary based on the surgical schedule, patient care needs, and business operations.
Compensation
The expected compensation range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, education, qualifications, licensure/certification, skills, and internal equity.
This range represents Atlas Surgery Center’s good-faith estimate of the expected compensation for this position at the time of posting, in accordance with New York State pay transparency requirements.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Work is performed in an ambulatory surgery center and operating room environment. This position requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and assisting with patient positioning and transfers. The employee must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and assist with patient transfers or movement of equipment, with assistance when appropriate.
This role may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, sharps, infectious materials, cleaning agents, hazardous chemicals, and medical equipment. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
