Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and food processors
- Assist with food prep tasks such as slicing, dicing, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment to uphold food safety standards and sanitation regulations
- Follow food handling procedures diligently to prevent contamination and ensure safe meal preparation
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal production and ensure timely service during busy periods
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation methods for daily specials or catering events
Experience
- Previous experience in a food service or restaurant environment demonstrating proficiency in cooking and food preparation
- Familiarity with dietary department practices or dietary aide experience is a plus, highlighting attention to special dietary needs
- Knowledge of safety standards in food production and food safety management practices
- Hands-on experience operating various kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork with kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel
- Culinary experience that includes recipe adherence, meal preparation, and catering support is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety
