Job Title: Bus Driver

A cornerstone of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is its Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP). Through partnerships with almost 200 companies/organizations in the Chicagoland area, students work one day per week in an office environment. This educational model enables students to develop career readiness/leadership skills, cultivate a professional network, add real business value, and support the cost to attend a private, college-preparatory, Catholic high school.
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager of the Corporate Work Study Program, the Bus Driver will be responsible for safely, professionally, and efficiently transporting students to/from their assigned work placements in and around Chicago, IL in a Corporate Work Study Program vehicle and performing activities related to the operation of the vehicle.
- PACE certification will be sponsored by the organization. The selected candidate must complete all required training and achieve certification within the designated timeframe.
- Drive student workers from the school to their job placements in the morning
- Ensure a welcoming, orderly, appropriate, and professional environment
- Drive student workers from their work placements back to the school in the afternoon
- Drive CWSP vehicle and transport student workers to work and from work or to/from various events, activities, and destinations
- Follow the assigned route sheet without variation
- Be always in full charge of vehicle and report unmanageable student workers to the Sr. Program Manager
- Ensure student workers are dropped off at the correct location by watching students walk into the building of their assigned work placement
- Adhere to all rules of the road and safety rules when loading or unloading student workers
- Assist student workers into/from vehicles as needed
- Check vehicle for operating safety and submit completed, signed vehicle inspection form (conduct a pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection including tires, gas, battery, oil, antifreeze/coolant, and vehicle fluids)
- Check, clean and perform minor servicing of assigned vehicle
- Demonstrate knowledge of assigned routes and stops by driving the route and noting stop locations before the first day of service (without student workers onboard)
- Prepare and submit required reports and completed trip logs daily
- Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Program Manager of the Corporate Work Study Program
Qualifications:
- Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license with no serious moving violations (must have valid driver's license and good driving record)
- CDL, preferred but not required.
- Have a minimum of 3 years previous safe driving experience
- Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative
- Exhibit a good personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, administration, parents, business partners and the community
- Be a reliable person of good character and good judgement who shall possess the qualifications and communication skills necessary to the duties of this position and comply with rules set in federal, state, and local regulations.
- Work effectively as part of a team and efficiently as an individual
- Be flexible and adaptable as CWSP operations change or develop

- Be sensitive to the ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds of the student body
- Willing to work in a faith-based institution
- Subject to drug and alcohol testing
- Able to lift 25 lbs.
Compensation/Schedule
This is a seasonal position that follows the annual school calendar (the school year covers Mid-August through early June with school breaks and holidays per the school calendar)
This position pays $23.00 per hour with a minimum of 20 hours per week (depending on school calendar).
