Compensation: $82,000–$103,000 annually, depending on experience and bonus performance

South Lake Agency Insurance Brokers is a rapidly growing independent insurance brokerage representing more than 20 highly rated insurance carriers. We provide home, auto, commercial, life, and specialty insurance solutions while delivering responsive, knowledgeable service to our clients.
We are seeking a highly organized, dynamic, and experienced Office General Manager to oversee daily operations, lead our service team, and help build the systems and accountability needed to support our continued growth.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands insurance agency operations, knows how to manage competing priorities, and is comfortable holding a team to high standards while also stepping in to help when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and oversee the agency’s service and administrative teams.
- Ensure client requests, policy changes, renewals, cancellations, billing issues, claims assistance, and other service tasks are completed accurately and promptly.
- Monitor employee workloads, open tasks, inboxes, follow-ups, and performance targets.
- Establish clear expectations and maintain accountability for productivity, quality, responsiveness, and client service.
- Review completed work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with agency standards.
- Identify service issues, workflow bottlenecks, and training needs before they become larger problems.
- Conduct regular team meetings, employee check-ins, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Coordinate employee schedules, time-off requests, office coverage, and staffing needs.
- Process payroll and assist with employee benefits and general HR administration.
- Support employee onboarding, training, documentation, and continuing development.
- Maintain and improve agency procedures, workflows, templates, checklists, and internal controls.
- Help track agency goals, employee performance metrics, service standards, and operational results.
- Work directly with insurance carriers, underwriters, billing departments, claims representatives, and technology vendors.
- Assist with complex client situations and escalated service concerns.
- Support agency leadership with special projects, growth initiatives, carrier relationships, and operational planning.
- Promote a positive, professional, collaborative, and accountable office culture.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of three years of insurance industry experience is required.
- Previous leadership, management, or team-supervision experience is required.
- Strong working knowledge of personal lines insurance and insurance agency operations.
- Experience working with multiple insurance carriers, including companies such as Travelers, Progressive, Liberty Mutual/Safeco, AAA, and other regional or national carriers.
- Demonstrated ability to manage employees, delegate responsibilities, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with clients, employees, carriers, and agency leadership.
- Comfort addressing performance issues and holding employees accountable.
- Ability to remain calm, solutions-focused, and organized in a fast-moving environment.
- Proficiency with agency management systems, carrier websites, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and general business technology.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with payroll, employee, client, and financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Minnesota Property and Casualty insurance license.
- Previous experience as an agency manager, operations manager, service manager, account manager, or senior customer service representative.
- Experience with payroll, employee onboarding, benefits administration, or other HR-related responsibilities.
- Experience developing workflows, procedures, performance scorecards, or quality-control processes.
- Familiarity with EzLynx or similar insurance agency management and comparative-rating systems.
- Experience working within an independent insurance agency or brokerage.

Schedule and Work Location
Because this role is responsible for leading the office, supporting employees, and overseeing daily operations, it will be primarily on-site Monday through Friday. Some schedule flexibility may be available based on agency needs and demonstrated performance.
