Job Summary:
As the Construction Manager I, II, III, you will ultimately be responsible for managing construction crews, coordinating project execution, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will oversee daily field operations, manage resources, and deliver quality construction services while maintaining compliance with company standards and customer requirements. As the Construction Manager I, II, III, your customers are project managers, field employees, customers, and internal operations teams, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through leadership, operational excellence, and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
- Manage and coordinate the daily activities of assigned construction crews
- Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to improve team performance
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Administer corrective actions and maintain documentation related to employee performance and conduct
- Train and mentor Foremen while providing daily operational support
- Coordinate scheduling, material ordering, and project execution with the Construction Project Manager
- Coordinate site activities and project planning with customers
- Authorize material purchases for assigned projects
- Coordinate crew timesheets, project documentation, and job setup activities with administrative staff
- Review and approve project invoices
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and overall project progress
- Approve and complete daily production reports, mark-up maps, work hour documentation, as-built drawings, and project closeout packages
- Interview, hire, and manage field personnel
- Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
Required Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred
Experience
- Experience managing construction crews and field operations
- Experience in aerial and underground telecommunications construction
- Experience coordinating multiple construction projects, schedules, materials, and resources
- Experience interpreting construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and project documentation
Skills and Abilities
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and motivate construction teams
- Strong knowledge of aerial and underground construction practices
- Ability to read and interpret building plans, blueprints, specifications, contracts, and construction documents
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with employees, customers, subcontractors, and business partners
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word, scheduling software, HCSS HeavyBid, and other construction management software
- Ability to perform budget forecasting, cost analysis, estimates, percentages, ratios, and profit calculations
- Ability to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and develop practical solutions
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience supporting telecommunications infrastructure construction projects
- Previous experience managing multiple crews and complex construction projects
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and construction machinery
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, squat, climb, kneel, push, pull, lift, twist, and perform physically demanding activities for extended periods
- Ability to stand, walk, or remain in physically demanding positions throughout the workday
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, and other required safety gear
- Ability to maintain visual and audible awareness of personnel, equipment, and surrounding work environments to ensure safe operations

The title of Construction Manager I, II, or III is determined based on the individual's experience, skill level, scope of responsibility, size and complexity of projects managed, and span of control.
