Meta Tech Industries is a Precision Machine Shop. We machine complex parts out of exotic materials that have tight tolerances for use throughout the oilfield, space, and defense industries.
Meta Tech is expanding and we are looking for a CNC Lathe Machinist that is comfortable and familiar with Okuma machines for setup, and machining complex precision parts. Candidate must be capable of operating independently. This means being able to do your own programming and do your own setups.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Responsible for quality parts produced on OKUMA CNC Lathe machines (Live Tooling or Milling skillset is a plus).
- Responsible for operating independently to produce conforming parts. Must be able to be given a print/model, and be able to set up, and run parts without help.
- Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine
- Communicates with supervisor, production, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
- Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Key Skills And Competencies
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating CNC Lathe machines
- Knowledge of Okuma OSP controls is REQUIRED.
- Knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales.
- Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensions.
- Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines.
- Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for the purpose calculating material fabrication.

Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
