Community Canvassing Position
Location: 10 precincts in Northeast Houston–Kashmere Gardens and Scenic Woods
Compensation: Beginning at $20/hour (Will increase with experience and performance)Timeline: Round 1 (June 15 – July 15) | Round 2 (August 15 – September 15) | Round 3 (October 1 – October 31)Role Description
As a Community Canvasser, you will play a vital role in grassroots community organizing by engaging directly with residents in Northeast Houston. Your primary focus will be connecting with low-propensity voters to hear their perspectives on local issues.
You will facilitate short, meaningful, at-the-door conversations centered on listening to residents' concerns and understanding the specific improvements they want to see in their neighborhoods.
Key Responsibilities
● Door-to-Door Outreach: Navigate designated neighborhoods in Northeast Houston to conduct intentional, listening-focused visits with local residents.
● Community Listening: Ask open-ended questions about neighborhood conditions, validate resident experiences, and document their primary concerns.
● Data Management: Utilize provided digital walk-lists containing specific street addresses, voter names, and phone numbers to track outreach accuracy and log community feedback.
Position Requirements
● Comfortable walking outdoors and engaging with diverse groups of people face-to-face.
● Strong active listening and communication skills.
● Ability to accurately record data and manage digital walk-lists.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
