Role Overview
We are currently looking for a Process Engineer to join the engineering department of a highly successful, long-standing precision gear manufacturer. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment, specifically someone who enjoys being on the shop floor to refine machining workflows, oversee product launches, and partner with production staff to overcome intricate manufacturing hurdles. You will be instrumental in establishing effective production techniques for high-precision parts while actively fostering continuous improvement across our CNC machining departments.
Core Duties

Design and refine production workflows for high-precision mechanical components and gears.

Generate and manage essential manufacturing records, including bills of materials, process routings, and standard operating procedures.

Facilitate the transition of new products from initial engineering design through to full-scale production.

Develop and enhance manufacturing strategies, including the design of specialized tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment.

Analyze existing machining operations to boost throughput, enhance quality, reduce costs, and minimize cycle times.

Partner with machinists, CNC programmers, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical production obstacles.

Analyze customer specifications, GD&T, and engineering prints to establish precise manufacturing requirements.

Direct investigations into root causes and deploy corrective measures to resolve process-related defects.

Promote ongoing improvement projects to elevate safety standards, product quality, delivery timelines, and overall output.

Manage documentation updates and process modifications within the ERP/MRP software environment.

Engage in manufacturing readiness assessments, process validation, and PFMEA activities.

Offer technical guidance to production staff to help them overcome complex machining difficulties.
Required Qualifications

A Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

At least two years of professional experience in process or manufacturing engineering within a CNC machining setting.

Background in metal fabrication, precision machining, or gear production is highly desirable.

Proficiency in gear cutting, grinding, turning, or CNC milling operations.

Competency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T standards.

Proven track record of creating process documentation, work instructions, and manufacturing routings.

Understanding of Lean principles and methodologies for continuous improvement.

Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems for production management.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to troubleshoot effectively across departments.
