Part Time Store Team Member
At the West Chester Cooperative, a community owned grocery store, our mission is to strengthen our community by providing access to fresh, local, sustainable, and high-quality food while supporting local farmers, producers, and responsible business practices.
As a Store Team Member, you play an important role in creating a welcoming shopping experience while helping bring that mission to life every day.
You'll be cross-trained throughout the store, giving you the opportunity to build new skills while working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Depending on the day's needs, you may assist customers at the register, stock shelves, merchandise displays, receive deliveries, or support any department.
No two days are exactly the same—and that's part of what makes working at the co-op rewarding.
Status & Reporting
Reports To: General Manager and or Manager on Duty
Status: Part-Time (12–30 hours per week)
Compensation: $12.00–$15.00 per hour, depending on experience
Minimum Age Requirement: 16 years old
Schedule
- Days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Flexible scheduling based on business needs and employee availability

Core Responsibilities
Every Store Team Member is expected to learn and perform the following responsibilities regardless of their primary work area.
Customer Service & Member Experience
- Welcome every customer with friendly, genuine service.
- Help customers locate products and answer questions.
- Share information about co-op ownership, events, and promotions when appropriate.
- Assist with special orders.
- Resolve customer concerns or refer them to management.
- Help create an enjoyable shopping experience for every customer.

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift
- Regularly lift up to 10lbs and occasionally up to 40lbs pounds with assistance
- Work in refrigerated and freezer environments
- Safely operate carts, pallet jacks, step ladders, and basic store equipment
- Maintain awareness of food safety and sanitation standards
Required Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills

- Willingness to learn multiple departments
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced retail environment
- Reliable attendance
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
- Retail, grocery, food service, or customer service experience is preferred but not required
