Job Summary
We are starting a new shop and seeking a highly skilled and motivated Small Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of small equipment and machinery, specializing in concrete grinding and floor prep equipment- ensuring optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly by providing expert mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting support on various equipment types. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery, including power generation systems, small engines, and automotive components, in a fast-paced environment that values precision and proactive maintenance.
Will provide specific training for electrical and propane powered floor prep equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on small equipment, including engines, electrical systems, hydraulic components, and mechanical parts.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical diagnostics and mechanical issues efficiently.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections to prevent future breakdowns.
- Repair and maintain power generation systems, generators, and other auxiliary equipment to ensure continuous operation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other specialized tools to execute repairs accurately.
- Assist with heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while adhering to safety protocols.
- Document all repairs, maintenance activities, and inspections thoroughly for record-keeping and compliance purposes.
Qualifications
- Proven dealership or service technician experience working with automotive or small engine repair is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment troubleshooting and repair.
- Familiarity with schematics, electrical diagnostics, diesel engine repair, welding, soldering, and mechanical systems repair.
- Experience working with Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery is a plus.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and electrical work tools required for complex repairs.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics accurately for precise troubleshooting.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely in various work environments.
