Maintenance Technician
Perform various maintenance activities in industrial buildings and outer grounds.
Essential Skills & Functions
- Use manual machines (Drill Press, Grinder, Bandsaw, Welding and Torch) to fabricate and repair metal items to aid the manufacturing line.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, test, install and repair equipment, parts, and systems in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Read and interpret work orders, safety rules, mechanical and electrical drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Working knowledge of Electrical Codes, OSHA and standard industry safety rules/regulations.
- Perform prescribed Preventative Maintenance according to continuous improvement processes.
- Must have outside/ inside building maintenance skills.
- Must have carpentry, plumbing and electrical skills.
- Must be able to use mics, calipers and other measuring tools to inspect work and repair equipment.
- Use lock-out/ tag-out system properly and safely.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, robotic, and conveyor systems.
- Help minimize downtime and support stable, efficient production operations.
- Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform necessary repairs or replace defective parts.
- Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to Supervisor.
- Maintain accurate and complete records, document all work performed appropriately.
- Complete all Work order in a timely manner. Work Order tracking from initiation to closure (inserting written notes in the Work Order as work is completed and/or current status).
- Support trainees and new hires to assure proper training for our equipment including Mechanical, Instrumentation and Electrical requirements by assisting with On-the-Job Training (OJT) and coaching.
- Report any maintenance or repair issues to the supervisor.
- Work a complete 8-hour shift.
- Ensure attendance and punctuality to follow a strict schedule.
- Maintain good departmental housekeeping for safe and efficient operations.
- Understand and follow all safety related standards and practice.
- Ability to read, speak and write in English.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Notes: Each employee will be trained to perform all of the above tasks.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, kneel, walk, turn, pivot, push, pull, reach overhead and stand for 8 or more hours a day.
- Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or incline surfaced for extended periods of time.
- You must display excellent time management skills, be able to work with little or no supervision and communicate regularly.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures indoor/outdoor, depending upon season.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear well, naturally or corrected.
- Work in manufacturing environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, typically 7:30am – 4:00pm. However, Evenings, Overtime and Saturday may be required to meet the business demand. Must have reliable transportation and punctual attendance.
Work Environment
Working environment may include indoor/outdoor areas/sites and will require constant vigilance and care. This person would be responsible for working with cleaning materials including a variety of chemicals, and safe, proper handling of these chemicals is a MUST. The job also requires constant movement around the building, meaning there is a lot of walking!
