Position Overview
Bright Oak is seeking a Business Development Consultant (1099) to expand awareness and adoption of CivShield products throughout the Eastern United States, with a particular focus on communities vulnerable to hurricanes, severe weather, and other emergency events.
This role focuses on developing relationships with homeowners’ associations, apartment communities, mobile home parks, senior living communities, schools, healthcare organizations, businesses, houses of worship, municipalities, and other community-focused organizations.
We are looking for professionals who understand that successful business development is built on trust, relationships, and delivering meaningful value to the communities they serve.
While this is a commission-based role, we are not simply looking for salespeople. We are looking for someone who can represent our mission, educate decision-makers, and help organizations identify preparedness solutions that improve communication and resilience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders and organizational decision-makers
- Identify new business opportunities within assigned territories
- Conduct presentations, demonstrations, and discovery meetings
- Educate prospects on CivShield products and preparedness solutions
- Prepare proposals and assist organizations with product selection
- Attend networking events, community meetings, and local outreach opportunities
- Maintain accurate records of prospect activity and sales opportunities with company CRM systems
- Provide market feedback to support product and program development
Ideal Candidate
- Experience in business development, sales, community outreach, property management, public safety, emergency management, or related fields
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable meeting with community leaders and organizational stakeholders
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Passion for helping organizations improve preparedness and resilience
- Existing relationships within HOAs, property management, municipal, educational, healthcare, or community organizations are a plus are highly valued

Early contributors who help establish successful territories, partnerships, and repeatable business development processes will be uniquely positioned for future leadership consideration as Bright Oak expands.
Candidates who demonstrate strong performance, relationship-building capabilities, market development success, and alignment with the Bright Oak mission may be considered for expanded responsibilities as the organization grows.
We are not simply building a sales team. We are building the foundation for a long-term community resilience network.
Compensation
- 1099 Independent Contractor
- Tiered commission structure ranging from 15% to 25% based on sales volume
- Up to $10,000: 15%
- $10,001 to $25,000: 20%
- Above $25,000: 25%
- No cap on earnings
- Flexible schedule
- Travel within assigned territory required
