Lead Robotics Automation Engineer
Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a leading diagnostic laboratory services organization in the Tampa, FL area, is seeking a Lead Robotics Automation Engineer to join their team! This is a 100% onsite opportunity focused on advanced robotics, PLC programming, automation systems, and continuous improvement within a 24/7 laboratory environment.
Lead Robotics Automation Engineer Job Summary:
- Pay: Up to $130K annually + 5% bonus
- Schedule: 100% onsite; flexible schedule required to support 24/7 operations
- Lead regional automation systems and continuous improvement initiatives
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and improve automated equipment to increase reliability, performance, and efficiency
- Lead the implementation, validation, installation, and commissioning of new automation systems
- Program and develop industrial robots, including FANUC, ABB, KUKA, UR, and YASKAWA
- Work with PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, sensors, actuators, and industrial networks
- Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime and improve OEE
- Maintain and document automation software revisions, electrical schematics, system configurations, repairs, and calibrations
- Serve as the regional automation subject matter expert and provide technical training and support
- Partner with the Enterprise Automation team on automation design, installation, commissioning, and system improvements
- Support preventive maintenance programs and proactive reliability strategies
Lead Robotics Automation Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in industrial automation integration and robot programming
- Strong PLC programming experience with platforms such as Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens
- Experience with industrial robotics such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, UR, or YASKAWA
- Strong understanding of PLCs, HMI, SCADA, industrial networking, motion controls, and PID control loops
- Experience with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, or Profibus
- Experience with automated vision systems is a plus, including Cognex, Keyence, Matrox, or Omron
- Experience with CMMS is preferred
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is preferred
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions across teams
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and other non-standard hours as needed
