Job Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for accurately counting, preparing, packaging, shipping, and receiving all products and items sent to vendors and customers. This role performs visual inspections of completed parts, communicates with vendors on orders in process, and supports the production manager to ensure timely and accurate customer deliveries.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities:
- Receive, count, and properly put away all inbound materials and items.
- Ensure all outbound shipments are processed accurately and on time.
- Inspect finished parts prior to shipping to ensure compliance with control documents.
- Collaborate with production to verify the parts meet customer delivery requirements.
- Prepare shipping labels and enter data into shipping/inventory software.
- Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) log.
- Communicate with vendors regarding orders in process.
- Assist the production manager as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; minimum 2 years of related job experience or equivalent technical education.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail, especially for parts inspection and shipping accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Clear verbal communication with supervisors, vendors, and team members.
- Basic PC operation and data entry.
- Basic excel, word, and other Microsoft apps.
- Problem-solving ability and common sense to carry out job requirements.
- Ability to operate or be trained to operate a forklift.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints (training provided).
- Ability to use inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and depth mics (training provided).
Physical Demands: This role requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 80 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout a warehouse/production environment for extended periods.
Employment Type: This is a full-time, temp-to-hire position. A 60-day evaluation period applies, after which the position may convert to permanent employment.
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
