Job Summary
We are seeking a Water Sewer Storm Utilities Field Technician to join our infrastructure services team. This role involves performing field inspections, data collection, and technical assessments related to water, sewer, and stormwater systems within civil infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in construction management, civil engineering principles, and technical proficiency with various CAD and GIS software. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to essential public works projects by ensuring quality standards, safety compliance, and accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site inspections of water, sewer, and stormwater utility installations, ensuring adherence to construction plans and specifications
- Perform field surveying and collect accurate data using land surveying techniques and GIS tools such as ArcGIS
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and construction plans to verify work progress and compliance
- Assist in the development of construction estimates and project schedules based on site observations and data analysis
- Support construction management activities by monitoring progress, documenting issues, and coordinating with contractors
- Utilize CAD software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, and Schematics for reviewing drawings and updating project documentation
- Conduct construction inspection to verify quality control measures are met during various phases of public works projects
- Gather data related to stormwater management systems, wastewater treatment facilities, and water treatment processes for research & development initiatives
- Prepare detailed reports and technical writing to document findings, project status, and compliance reports
- Collaborate with civil engineers and project managers to ensure project specifications are met efficiently
Experience:
- Prior experience working on construction projects within civil infrastructure roles such as water systems, sewer lines, or stormwater management is highly desirable
- Proficiency in construction management practices including project scheduling and construction estimating
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles related to public works construction inspection
- Familiarity with GIS platforms like ArcGIS for mapping and data analysis
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation for drafting and reviewing construction drawings
- Knowledge of land surveying techniques and field surveying equipment
- Understanding of wastewater treatment processes and water treatment systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and construction specifications accurately
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in data collection and report preparation
- Competence in technical writing for documenting inspection findings and project updates
- Basic mechanical knowledge related to infrastructure components is advantageous
