Overview
The Director of Maintenance (DOM) holds a full-time position and has overall authority and responsibility for the Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP) outlined in the General Maintenance Manual. This includes the program's execution, production, alteration, revision, and distribution. The DOM holds final authority over all maintenance-related departments, including the maintenance shop, inspection, scheduling, training, parts, and the CASS.
The DOM holds an FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate and possesses RTS authority. For clarity in the General Maintenance Manual (GMM), other positions may be described as having "control" or "responsibility" for specific functions. However, the final authority and responsibility for all maintenance activities, departments, and personnel rests with the Director of Maintenance.
Certifications / Qualifications Required: (A&P and must meet requirements of 119.71)
Specific duties may include:
- Exercises Operational Control over aircraft flights with Director of Operations and Chief Pilot
- Oversees daily maintenance activities of all maintenance functions
- Coordinates with other department heads such as accounting, flight ops and flight scheduling
- Maintains close liaison with the FAA and local FSDO inspectors
- Prepares and transmits necessary reports to FAA ( MISR / SDR / Vendor List/Ferry permit, MEL Extensions, AMOC requests, use of Emergency Maintenance Provider)
- Reviews and approves Maintenance Control schedules
- Maintains revises all maintenance department operational documents and maintenance manuals (GMM, AAIP, OEM subscriptions etc)
- Conforms or adds new aircraft to the air carrier certificate
- Reviews qualifications of all maintenance personnel, adjusts staffing as required
- Authorizes RII and RTS personnel
- Makes final determination/disposition on “Red Tag” parts
- Makes final determination on vendor and contract maintenance qualifications
- May make final compliance and applicability determination on ADs, SBs and SLs etc.
- During CASS quarterly meetings, makes final determination on program changes and adds or revises Alternate Maintenance Procedure (AMP) letters.
- May provide training per his/ her qualifications
Many of the Director of Maintenance's may be delegated as needed, such as to the Assistant DOM, Chief Inspector, CASS Manager, Maintenance Control Manager, Parts Manager, etc. However, delegation does not absolve the Director of Maintenance from their overall authority and responsibility for the entire maintenance department.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
