Join Agave as a UX/UI Designer
Are you ready to design for something bold, meaningful, and fast-growing? Agave is a VC-backed startup building a digital prize and engagement platform for professional sports teams, influencers, entertainment brands, and other organizations. As we grow, we need a thoughtful, detail-obsessed UX/UI Designer to make every part of the Agave product intuitive, consistent, and easy to use.
What’s the Job?
We’re looking for a creative, analytical, and collaborative UX/UI Designer to own the user experience and interface design of Agave’s digital product. You’ll work closely with product leadership and developers to understand user needs, explore solutions, design new features, improve existing workflows, and carry designs through implementation. This position is solely focused on UX/UI product design. It is not a graphic design, branding, social media, marketing creative, or frontend development role.
What Strengths Do You Need?
- A user-first mindset. You advocate for clarity, simplicity, and ease of use.
- A razor-sharp eye for detail. You notice confusing interactions, inconsistencies, and missing states.
- A problem-solver’s mentality. You simplify complex workflows while balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
- A collaborative spirit. You communicate clearly, welcome feedback, and take ownership from discovery through implementation.
What Skills Should You Have or Be Eager to Learn?
- Advanced proficiency in Figma
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS (not required)
- Experience with user flows, personas, customer journey mapping, and information architecture
- A clear process from wireframes to black-and-white structure, then polished color design
- Strong interaction design across loading, empty, error, success, and other key product states
- Mobile-first responsive design, ADA accessibility standards, and established usability heuristics
- Color theory, layout hierarchy, visual variations, and scalable design systems
- Fast iteration, organized developer handoffs, implementation collaboration, and design QA
What Will You Be Doing Every Day?
- Product and Platform Design: Design SaaS applications, CRM interfaces, admin portals, and data-heavy dashboards
- User Journeys and Onboarding: Map customer journeys and design multi-step onboarding, forms, and workflow builders
- Responsive and Conversion Design: Create mobile-first experiences, analytics and reporting views, and high-conversion landing pages
- Interaction and Prototyping: Move quickly from wireframes to monochrome structure and polished color designs with complete interaction states
- Design Systems and Accessibility: Build scalable components and apply ADA standards, usability heuristics, color theory, and clear hierarchy
- Developer Collaboration: Work closely with developers through handoff, implementation, and design QA
What You Bring to the Table
- Professional UX/UI or product design experience
- A strong portfolio showing complex product work such as SaaS, CRM, dashboards, admin portals, onboarding, workflow builders, or analytics views
- Experience taking projects from discovery through launch; a bachelor’s degree in UX, HCI, Design, or a related field is preferred but not required
- Strong communication, adaptability, a startup-ready mentality, and the ability to attend regular in-person working sessions in Provo, Utah
What’s in It for You?
- Competitive salary based on experience
- The opportunity to take meaningful ownership of a growing product
- Direct collaboration with Agave’s product leadership and development team
- Room to grow and influence Agave’s product and design standards as the company expands
How to Apply
Send us your résumé, portfolio, and a brief cover letter that answers these two questions:
- What’s your greatest personality trait that helps you thrive in a fast-moving product environment?
- Which project in your portfolio best demonstrates how you solved a difficult user-experience problem?
Please confirm that you can attend regular in-person meetings and working sessions in Provo, Utah. We can’t wait to see how you think!
