Responsibilities
- Supervise daily produce department operations, including stocking, merchandising, and inventory management to ensure product freshness and availability.
- Lead, train, and develop team members in customer service excellence, safety procedures, and operational tasks such as cashiering and POS system usage.
- Manage purchasing and pricing strategies to maximize sales and profitability while maintaining competitive market standards.
- Oversee inventory control processes, including stock rotation, shrink reduction, and accurate bookkeeping of departmental records.
- Coordinate with suppliers for product deliveries, negotiate pricing when appropriate, and ensure timely replenishment of stock.
- Enforce health and safety regulations within the produce area to guarantee a clean, safe environment for staff and customers alike.
- Utilize management skills to handle shift scheduling, payroll processing, and employee orientation programs effectively.
Skills
- Proven experience in supervising retail or grocery store departments with strong leadership capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage managerial responsibilities confidently.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems, POS systems, and basic bookkeeping practices.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail in merchandising, stocking, and operational procedures.
- Ability to conduct interviews and participate in recruiting efforts for new team members.
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases effectively.
- Competence in negotiation for purchasing agreements and managing vendor relationships.
- Sound knowledge of retail sales strategies, pricing techniques, and retail math essentials for accurate cash handling and sales management.
