Overview
First Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, is seeking an installed Solo Pastor to lead and serve our congregation as we continue more than 125 years of faithful ministry in the Rio Grande Valley.
We are a welcoming and congenial congregation with a strong commitment to sharing God’s Word, serving our diverse community, and following where God is leading us. Faithful preaching and teaching of Scripture, along with a vibrant music ministry, are important parts of our church life and mission.

We are seeking a pastor who will join us in this mission, provide faithful and compassionate leadership, and help guide our congregation toward sustainable growth while encouraging deeper spiritual formation. Our Church Leadership Connection information is currently in process.
Responsibilities
- Faithfully preach and teach the Word of God.
- Serve as the spiritual and administrative leader of the church staff.
- Pray with and for the congregation, staff, and church leadership.
- Work closely with and support the Session and ministry teams.
- Provide pastoral care, guidance, and support to congregants and staff.
- Lead or coordinate Bible studies and other opportunities for Christian education and spiritual growth.
- Participate in and provide pastoral leadership for baptisms, weddings, funerals, and other significant life events.
- Support and engage with youth and family ministries.
- Encourage, equip, and develop volunteers throughout the church.
- Help the congregation identify opportunities for growth, ministry, and meaningful service within the community.

- A strong communicator with excellent preaching and public speaking skills.
- Able to relate to and appreciate the unique needs, traditions, and strengths of our congregation.
- Committed to providing stability, consistency, and thoughtful leadership.
- Grounded in and knowledgeable about Reformed theology.
- Passionate about helping individuals and families grow deeper in their faith.
Key Qualifications
- Education and theological training consistent with ministry in the Presbyterian tradition.
- Master of Divinity degree or equivalent theological education and experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of Reformed theology and Presbyterian polity.
- Experience leading and managing paid staff.
- Ability to delegate effectively and work collaboratively with ministry teams.
- Strong preaching, teaching, and communication skills.
- Experience providing pastoral care in a congregational setting.
- Ability to recruit, motivate, and work effectively with volunteers.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Session and church leadership.
- A desire and willingness to make a long-term commitment to the congregation and its continued growth.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
