Position Description: Senior Applications Engineer/Electrical Engineer
Location: Hybrid / 50-75% Remote (with structured travel to MA, CT, and customer sites)
Category: Technical Leadership & Engineering
The Opportunity
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to step into a vital role within our close-knit team. This isn't a "cog in the machine" position; you will be the technical heartbeat of our product line, bridging the gap between complex electronic design and real-world industrial application.
Following the retirement of a long-tenured leader, this role is designed for a technical expert who finds fulfillment in problem-solving, customer obsession, and hands-on engineering rather than climbing a traditional management ladder. You will be the "go-to" person for our circuit board solutions used in power control panels for pumps and meters, ensuring our technology thrives in rugged, industrial grid environments.
To ensure a seamless transition, this role features a structured onboarding phase followed by a predictable, balanced remote/travel schedule.
Work Structure & Travel Schedule
Short-Term Onboarding (First Few Months)
- Knowledge Transfer: You will spend 2 weeks every month on-site in South-Central Massachusetts.
- Mentorship: This time will be dedicated to hands-on training and absorbing critical institutional knowledge directly from our retiring engineers.
Long-Term Schedule (Post-Onboarding)
- 50% Remote: Work from the comfort of your home office.
- 25% Connecticut Site (1 week/month): Collaboration, lab work, and team alignment at our Central Connecticut location.
- 25% Customer Travel (1 week/month or two): On-site visits to interface directly with clients and oversee technical implementations.
The Role: A 360° Engineering Impact
This role balances deep technical work with high-level customer and supply chain engagement:
- 20% New Product Development: Designing and iterating on the next generation of power control boards alongside our global support network of engineers.
- 20% Supply Chain & Regulatory Sustaining: Managing the technical integrity of our components, ensuring UL/ISO compliance, and maintaining vendor technical relationships.
- 30% Technical Sales Support: Partnering with the sales team to talk "engineer-to-engineer" with new customers, closing big deals through technical credibility (sometimes at the customer site).
- 30% Customer Success: Providing expert-level support for complex technical questions and troubleshooting.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
The Must-Haves (Technical):
- Electrical Engineering Core: A strong background in Electronical Engineering (bachelor’s degree) with specific expertise in magnetism and Hall Effect sensors a plus.
- Protocol Expertise: Familiarity with analog communication protocols to PLCs is essential.
- Field Readiness: The ability and willingness to meet the designated travel schedule for customer site visits and regional office rotations.
The Must-Haves (Cultural):
- Continuous Improvement Mindset: You are naturally organized and always looking for a way to make a process or product 1% better every day.
- Problem-Solving DNA: You don’t just identify issues; you own the solution from concept to execution.
- Technical Leadership: You want to be a mentor and a subject matter expert, not a people manager. You find professional "juice" in being the smartest technical resource in the room.
The "Nice-to-Haves":
- Hands-on experience with PCB design and software development for embedded systems.
- Experience designing for the grid or industrial processes (heavy-duty, high-reliability) rather than consumer electronics.
- Familiarity with Digital Communication protocols and board-level software.
- Experience navigating UL and ISO regulatory requirements.
- The "Translator" Skill: The ability to take complex technical specs and help create compelling sales literature.
- Proficiency in project tracking software to keep the rest of the company synced on your progress.
Why Join Us?
- Impact: In our small company, your work is visible, valued, and vital to our success.
- Relationships: You’ll work closely with a dedicated sales team and build long-term trust with customers who rely on our hardware.
- Autonomy: We value organized self-starters. You will have the freedom to manage your projects, your remote schedule, and your technical approach.
- Hands-on Work: From the lab bench to the customer’s panel box, you’ll be involved in every stage of the product lifecycle.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
