Summary
We are seeking an Experienced Exam Room Assistant to join our team at Aliante Animal Hospital. In this role, you will support the veterinary staff by assisting with the care and handling of animals in our facility, contributing to our mission of providing high-quality veterinary services.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the handling and restraint of animals during examinations and treatments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the backroom and kennel areas.
- Support veterinary technicians with laboratory tasks and procedures as needed.
- Ensure all equipment is sanitized and ready for use before procedures.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in care, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Help manage inventory of supplies and materials necessary for animal care.
Requirements
- Deliver exceptional customer service to ensure a positive client experience.
- Assist veterinarians in exam rooms to provide optimal patient care.
- Safely handle and restrain pets weighing up to 50 pounds, lifting them 10 times daily.
- Maintain physical fitness through bending, lifting, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Work in a clinical environment that involves exposure to fecal matter, urine, blood, and cleaning chemicals.
- Provide patient education regarding preventive care and medication purposes.
- Administer daily care to hospitalized patients as directed by veterinarians.
- Prepare and discharge patients from the hospital, ensuring clients understand at-home care.
- Maintain proficiency in laboratory protocols, inventory management, and housekeeping for exam rooms and treatment areas.
- Accurately record medical information, client communication, and invoices using hospital software.
- Ensure a clean and sanitized treatment area and exam rooms.
- Properly handle and dispense medications, adhering to double-checking and sign-off procedures.
- Manage client finances including estimates, insurance paperwork, deposits, and payment agreements.
- Update and maintain the accuracy of the in-house electronic census.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to prioritize client and patient needs. Cross-train in cashier, greeter, and kennel roles to provide comprehensive support.
- Prioritize safety for clients, pets, and colleagues.
- Adhere to clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements including OSHA standards, to ensure a safe and complaint work place.
