About the role
G'shmak Bakery & Café is looking for a full-time team member to assist the front of store and help customers, prep drink and food orders, and help open or close the shop. This is a hands-on, front-facing role — you'll often be the first and last person a customer interacts with, so friendliness, speed, and reliability matter as much as accuracy.
What you'll do
- Operate the register: ring up orders, handle cash and card payments, balance the drawer
- Take and prep customer orders — online or large catering orders— accurately and quickly
- Act as backup on the drink station: smoothies, milkshakes, coffee, and iced drinks when the primary barista needs support
- Open and/or close the store on scheduled shifts, including setup, cleaning, and end-of-day cash reconciliation
- Keep the front counter and display cases stocked, clean, and organized throughout the shift
- Communicate clearly with both English- and Spanish-speaking customers and team members
- Follow food safety and handling procedures
What we're looking for
- Fluent in both English and Spanish (spoken, comfortable with everyday customer conversation)
- Familiar with the local community and be access to transportation to and from South Williamsburg is a bonus.
- Prior experience with POS/register systems and cash handling preferred (Clover)
- Comfortable learning drink prep (smoothies, milkshakes, espresso drinks) as a backup skill
- Reliable and punctual — especially important for opening/closing shifts
- Friendly, calm under pressure during rushes
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Weekend and early-morning availability a plus
Schedule
Full-time, including opening and/or closing shifts as assigned. Specific days/hours to be discussed during interview.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
