Job Summary
We are a private Christian preschool seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and passionate Music Teacher to join our team. This position provides engaging music instruction to children ranging in age from 15 months through 4 years old.
The ideal candidate has a love for music and a heart for young children. The Preschool Music Teacher will create joyful, developmentally appropriate music experiences that encourage creativity, movement, self-expression, and a lifelong appreciation for music while supporting each child's cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate music classes for children ages 15 months through 4 years old.
- Introduce foundational music concepts through singing, movement, rhythm, instruments, games, and interactive activities.
- Foster a fun, welcoming, and Christ-centered learning environment where every child feels encouraged to participate.
- Plan and help lead weekly chapel services for our 3-year-old and 4-year-old students, incorporating age-appropriate worship songs that reinforce Christian values.
- Plan, coordinate, and direct four annual preschool performances, including the Christmas Program, Easter Program, Grandparents Day Program, and Preschool Graduation. Prepare students through regular rehearsals and collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to create meaningful, engaging performances for families.
- Incorporate music that supports seasonal themes, classroom curriculum, and Christian values when appropriate.
- Encourage children's creativity, confidence, coordination, listening skills, and self-expression through music.
- Maintain classroom materials, instruments, and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to support school events, performances, chapel, and special programs throughout the year.
- Supervise students during music classes while promoting positive behavior and ensuring a safe learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, training opportunities, and ongoing professional development as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Passion for music education and working with young children.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
- Ability to lead groups of young children through engaging songs, movement, and interactive activities.
- Strong vocal, rhythm, and classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creative, energetic, patient, and organized.
- Comfortable leading age-appropriate Christian worship and Bible-based lessons with preschool-aged children.
- Previous experience teaching music, early childhood education, children's ministry, or working with preschool-aged children is preferred.
- Must be committed to supporting the mission and values of our Christian preschool.
